Breakthrough in the stability of perovskite solar cell devices

Huang Wei team cooperated with Xi'an Red Cross Hospital to promote the application of flexible electronics in assisted knee replacement surgery.

Recently, two research results led by the academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the chief scientist Huang Wei of the Flexible Electronics Research Institute of Northwestern Polytechnical University have appeared in the journal Nature. One is to make breakthrough progress in the field of layered perovskite solar cells, the paper is published in "Nature-Photonics"; the other is to make important progress in the field of organic-metal oxide thin film transistor research, the paper is published in "Nature —Electronics.

In an interview with the China Science Daily, Huang Wei said that the device efficiency and performance of perovskite solar cells and metal oxide thin film transistors have achieved rapid development worldwide, but the device has always been relatively stable. Poor problem.

"Based on this, in these two research works, we have optimized the device performance and stability through material control and device structure design, gradually analyzed the stability mechanism, and thoroughly explored new methods to improve device stability and achieved breakthroughs." Huang Wei Say.

Perovskite materials have always had limitations in terms of environmental stability, which also greatly limits their commercial application. In response to this problem, Huang Wei's team effectively enhanced the interlayer charge transport and further stabilized the layered perovskite framework, preparing a high-performance layered perovskite solar cell with an efficiency of up to 18.06%, which greatly improved the perovskite The environmental stability of mineral film. At the same time, the device continues to shine under standard sunlight for 1000 hours at the maximum power output point, and the efficiency decay is less than 15%.

Last year, Hubei Wandu Solar, Peking University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Northwestern Polytechnical University and other units promoted the establishment of the "China Perovskite Optoelectronic Industry Alliance" in Hubei. Huang Wei, as the first president, is promoting perovskite optoelectronics. A lot of work has been done in the field of industry-university-research cooperation in the technical field.

In this regard, Huang Wei said that perovskite technology, as a frontier in advanced material technology, is a typical representative in the wave of technological innovation. Facing the huge market demand, he will lead the team in basic research work, grasp the key indicators that promote the industrialization of perovskite optoelectronic devices, and strive to break through the current scientific bottlenecks of perovskite materials in the optoelectronic field. .

"This research work provides an effective strategy to solve the key technical problems faced by perovskite solar cells in the industrialization process, and vigorously promotes the industrial development of perovskite solar cells." Huang Wei said.

Talking about the research plan of themselves and the team, Huang Wei said that they will focus on the cross-research direction of flexible electronics such as organic electronics, printed electronics, bioelectronics, etc., with flexible optoelectronic materials, device physical mechanisms, device manufacturing processes and integration. The key scientific issues and technical difficulties are the research objects, carrying out basic theory and application technology research, and developing applications for the new generation of information display, data encryption, biosensing and advanced energy.

In terms of perovskite solar cells, the team will design efficient and stable perovskite materials and devices, develop device packaging technologies, and develop environmentally friendly Research on lead perovskite materials and devices. At the same time, they will also develop large-area flexible manufacturing processes to meet the needs of current market applications. In addition, the use of perovskite materials for their excellent charge transport capability and photoelectric conversion performance has led to their applications in flexible electronics such as luminescence, photovoltaics, photoelectric detection, and information storage.

Huang Wei also said that for flexible electronic technology, the high-efficiency and stable perovskite solar cells and metal oxide thin film transistors designed and developed by them are expected to be combined with thin and flexible substrates, which can be potentially used in portable electronic products such as mobile phones and flat panel displays. And wearable devices. In addition, perovskite solar cells can also recycle indoor lighting sources and further utilize renewable energy. (â–  Reporter Cui Xueqin)
