Basic knowledge of mechanical grinding

First, grinding  

A finishing method for grinding an extremely thin surface layer from a workpiece using an abrasive tool and an abrasive is called grinding.  

During grinding, after the diamond or other abrasive is placed between the workpiece and the research disc, the surface of the workpiece is broken by the corundum. When the grinding disc and the workpiece move relative to each other, due to the irregularity of the abrasive and the grinding disc and the workpiece The surface is rolled, the broken pieces of the surface of the workpiece and the pieces of the grinding are "pushed away", and the repetition is repeated, gradually making the surface of the workpiece a smooth and precise plane. According to whether the abrasive is used as a working fluid during grinding, it can be classified into wet grinding and dry grinding.  

The wet grinding method has a large processing amount, one yin is rough processing, and the wet grinding is obtained in a pear-like dark surface.  

The dry grinding method has a small amount of processing, and is generally a finishing process, and a polished mirror is used to obtain a bright mirror surface.  

Second, the abrasive  

The abrasive is a mixture of abrasive and water or oil. Depending on the hardness of the workpiece and the machining allowance, different sizes of abrasives can be used.  

Grinding can be divided into natural abrasives and artificial abrasives according to its source. Natural abrasives include diamond, corundum, garnet, and the like. Artificial abrasives include synthetic diamond, artificial corundum, silicon carbide, magnetized boron, and the like.  

The crystal of carbon-based carbon (C) has a specific gravity of 3.4 to 3.6 and a Vickers hardness of 10,000 or more, which is the hardest. Since diamond is expensive, in the grinding process, a polishing paste prepared from a diamond powder having a particle size of micron is often used for lapping and polishing a workpiece of a material such as a tantalum alloy or a ceramic.  

The crystal of corundum alumina (Al2O3), the specific gravity of natural corundum is between 3.9 and 400, the specific gravity of artificial corundum is between 3.2 and 4.0, the alumina has greater toughness and the Vickers hardness is about 2000 or more.  

The crystal of silicon carbide (SlC) has a thin plate shape and a Vickers hardness of about 3,000, and various colors are often present due to the presence of impurities. Common are green and black. The black silicon carbide content is about 98%, the green color is about 98.5%, the silicon carbide is less tough, and the green silicon carbide is more brittle than the black one, which is suitable for processing various brittle materials.  

Boron carbide (B4C) has a specific gravity of about 2.5 and a hardness exceeding that of silicon carbide and close to diamond. For the grinding of workpieces with very high hardness.  

The synthetic diamond abrasive paste is prepared by using other synthetic agents of synthetic diamond powder phase. The paste is water soluble and has excellent lubricity. It can be diluted with water and glycerin during use. The abrasive pastes produced by various manufacturers are matched with different colors according to different specifications, which are easy to identify when used.  

Third, manual grinding  

Manual grinding is generally carried out on a grinding plate. The flat plate is square, the size is 300×300mm or 350×350mm, the material is cast iron, and the precision grade should be no less than ““. The flat plate is generally three sets. It must be checked regularly to ensure the accuracy. The grinding should be evenly used when grinding the workpiece. On the surface of the board, the repair corresponding to the three flat plates are calibrated to each other, and only the accuracy of the board is often maintained to obtain a better grinding quality.  

Fourth, the grinding machine  

During production and maintenance of the mechanical seal is large, although to a grinder, grinding machine is a grinding plane of special equipment, according to their structure type and electromagnetic mechanical mill vibration mill and the like. There are single-side grinding machines and double-side grinding machines in mechanical grinding machines.
