Everyone must remember the "The Power of More" translation contest held in April this year. The engine that was targeted at that time was Cummins QSK95. For the big guy QSK95, you may have seen it used in the power generation and railway fields before, but recently, its application market has expanded one step further and applied to the shipbuilding field!
Recently, at the 2016 Hamburg International Maritime Exhibition (SMM), Cummins delivered the first four QSK95 engines for the marine sector, and will deliver four more in December this year.
The eight QSK95 engines are delivered to Cummins' long-term partner, SEACOR Marine Holdings Inc. They will be installed on two 57-meter twin-person transport vessels, each with 4 Taiwan QSK95 marine engine.
The QSK95 engine, which is assembled on these two new ships, is rated at 4,000 hp (2,983 kW) / 1700 rpm. At the same time, Cummins will also provide auxiliary power for the new ship – two QSM11 generator sets per ship, a single power of 290kWe; and a fully enclosed QSM11-driven deck engine unit with a power of 270kWe.
