It is predicted that the price of tungsten will remain above US$40,000/ton this year.

Recently, Pierre Monet, president and CEO of Montreal-based tungsten producer Malaga Inc., said in an interview that since the world's largest producer, China, continues to regulate tungsten exports, tungsten prices will be in 2012. It will remain above US$40,000/tonne, which is more than RMB160,000/ton. China's tungsten production accounts for 80%-85% of the world. There is no indication that China will change its policy of restricting exports. The supply in the international market is still tight. 
It is reported that Malaga's production of tungsten ore in the Pasto Bueno plant in Peru accounts for 10% of total foreign production (excluding China). The company is planning to increase tungsten production and expects to double production by the end of 2013.
