South Korea finds rare earth minerals available for more than 30 years

According to the Korea East Asia Daily, the “rare earth” veins that can be used for at least 30 years and up to about 50 years have been discovered in Chungcheongbuk-do, Chungju, and Gangwon-do, Gangwon-do, South Korea. If this vein can be mined, South Korea's own production of rare earth can replace the current reliance on imported rare earth (annual 3,000 tons), and is expected to reduce the world's 97% of rare earth production in China's influence.

On the 27th, the reporter from the Korea Geological Resources Research Institute Zhang Haoyue (transliteration) told the reporter of the Dongya Daily that from December last year to the beginning of June this year, the results of the analysis of specimens collected in Chungju City and Hongcheon County were found to contain 0.6. -0.65% of rare earths are about 23.6 million tons of mine veins, of which about 147,500 tons of rare earths can be used. According to the current scale of 3,000 tons/year of rare earth imports, and considering the increase in demand in the future, the mine can be used for at least 30 years.
