Overview of Production of Ceramic Tiles from January to May 2011

Ceramic tiles. From January to May, the country’s ceramic tile production was 3.24 billion cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 17.1%. From the perspective of major producing areas, ceramic tile production in Guangdong, Fujian, and Shandong accounted for 60% of national ceramic tile production in the same period. From January to May, Guangdong ceramic tile output was 830 million cubic meters, an increase of 22.2% year-on-year; Fujian ceramic tile production was 7 Billion cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 23.9%; Shandong ceramic tile production was 420 million cubic meters, a year-on-year decrease of 13.9%, which was mainly due to the impact of limited electricity. In addition, emerging ceramic producing areas in the central region also showed strong growth. From January to May, ceramic production in Henan, Hubei, and Jiangxi in the central region increased by 130%, 67.5%, and 26% year-on-year, respectively. In the main areas where ceramic tile production increased rapidly, ceramic tile production in the central region increased by 52.1% year-on-year from January to May, much higher than the average growth rate of 12.2% in the eastern region and 13.5% in the western region during the same period.
