Sunflower assisted fertilization method

Oil sunflower is a cross-pollinated crop with high self-pollination rate. Artificial-assisted pollination can increase the seed setting rate and significantly increase the yield.

(1) Pollination time: The first artificially assisted pollination should be carried out 2 to 3 days after the oil sunflower enters the flowering stage (70% of the whole plant is flowering), and then it is given every 3 days, pollinating 2 to 3 times, pollination The time is best after the morning dew falls and ends at 11 o'clock in the afternoon. If it is not completed in the morning, it can be carried out after 3 pm.

(2) There are two specific methods for artificial pollination: one is powder puff pollination. Hold the neck of the oil sunflower with one hand and gently touch the face of the other hand with a puff (a pollination tool made of soft cloth and cotton) to make the pollen particles stick to the puff. Do not use too much force when touching. So as not to damage the pistil stigma. Then use the same method to gently touch the other puff and wipe it down. Since the oil sunflower is flowering from the outside to the inside, when pollinating, fresh pollen should be given to the flowering florets. The more pollinated plants, the more mixed pollen grains are mixed with the puff, and the more opportunities for pollination selection. The better the pollination effect. The second is that the flower disc is in contact with pollination, that is, in the adjacent two rows, the pollination effect is played by hand pressing one by one during the flowering period. Use this method to make the action lighter so as not to break the disc neck.
